As temperatures get set to rise even further in some parts of the country in the coming days, people are being warned of the potential dangers of swimming in open water.
They are also being advised not be over confident in the water and to know their own limits.
Roger Sweeney, acting CEO of Water Safety Ireland, has reiterated the dangers of swimming in our seas, lakes and rivers.
He is also urging parents and guardians not to allow children to use inflatable toys in the water
"Make sure the kids don't bring inflatable toys to open water," continued Mr Sweeney.
"They can be taken out by a rip current or by an off-shore breeze; parents can then get in to difficulty if they try to retrieve them.
"Have you made arrangements to make sure that any child that is going to the waterways is supervised?
"And, by supervised we mean close, uninterrupted adult supervision."
