The Taoiseach has been called on to intervene before jobs are lost in the local horticulture sector.
It's said some producers are facing challenges since Bord na Móna ceased production of peat moss last month.
The decision was made as part of the company's transition towards more climate friendly solutions but there have been calls since for a solution to be found to protect jobs.
Local TD Matt Carthy says some mushroom producers face closure because they cannot source the peat moss needed, saying the Government is "asleep at the wheel".
