Gardaí in Bailieboro have confirmed that they are investigating a report of a sheep kill in the Leiter area. A number of sheep were killed while more were badly injured. As a result of the incident, Gardaí are advising dog owners about their obligations under the Control of Dogs Act 1986.
Gardaí added that responsible dog ownership helps prevent "unnecessary savagery" to defenceless sheep and their lambs. They also highlighted how dog owners can be held liable for damages and face prosecution as a result.
