Hay fever sufferers are being warned of high pollen levels across the country today and tomorrow. Met Éireann says there are high levels of tree pollen at present, but there's a reduced risk on eastern coasts.
Most people with hay fever will have mild symptoms like sneezing, a runny nose, and itchy eyes. Ruth Morrow, respiratory nurse specialist with the Asthma Society of Ireland, says there are ways of managing hay fever.
"Wear a pair of wrap around sunglasses because that will help with the pollens and block them from getting into the eye. Splashing eyes with cold water will cool down eye irritation; take an antihistamine. And, when going for a daily walk, go when the pollen count is low and that tends to be in the morning time.
