A walk from Cavan to Cork begins today to raise money for Cavan Monaghan Palliative Care.
Friends, Christopher Maguire, Thomas Reilly and Thomas Lynch will set out on the journey after being inspired by a similar effort last year when they canoed from Cavan to Galway in aid of Cuan Cavan.
Starting around midday in Blacklion, the lads want to raise awareness around the effort in the hope that as many people as possible will support the cause.
They will traverse through Cavan, Leitrim, Roscommon and Offaly before heading south towards Munster in a trek that is expected to take 10 to 12 days to complete.
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound, Thomas Reilly said they will be bringing a 240lt black bin with them to store their gear and are greatful to Wilton Waste and Mr Waffle for the sponsorship.
He added that a GoFundMe page has been set up and the public can support the cause via the page
