Virginia Scouts group could be closer to securing a permanent home for its 90 young members in east Cavan.
According to local TD, Niamh Smyth, recent negotiations between scout leaders and Coillte to discuss the possibility of securing grounds at Deerpark Forest "went well".
It is now hoped the group, which currently has 36 leaders and a waiting list of 30 to join its numbers, will find the local permanent base it has been looking for.
The plans have now been forwarded to Cavan County Council for consideration. Deputy Niamh Smyth said she was "only too happy" to assist the volunteer organisation "who are teaching our young people so many valuable life skills".
