The Virginia Bypass is set to be completed by the year 2031, a spokesperson from Cavan County Council has confirmed to Northern Sound News.
The projected completion date will be 10 years after the road project was first put on the National Development Plan.
The project, which is aiming to solve congestion issues on the main route to Dublin, was first suggested over two decades ago.
Landowners and those who may be affected by the change will receive a letter updating them on developments.
Virginia is the last remaining town on the N3 national route from Dublin to the NI Border which has not been bypassed.
The spokesperson for Cavan County Council also confirmed that the N55 Corduff South of Killydoon Section B project will be completed by the end of 2024.
