A silent candlelight vigil to remember Brendan Wall and Ivan Chittenden will be held in East Cork tomorrow. The event at Green Park in Youghal will happen after the funeral of 45-year-old Mr Wall in Meath.
The two men died in separate incidents during the swimming leg of the Ironman race on Sunday. Local man Tommy Collins outlines why he organised the vigil. "Overall, there was fantastic support around the town but then sadly we heard of the passing of the two athletes," he continued.
"It's true of everybody that we were all gutted to here of the two athletes' passing. A lot of people feel very upset since and we wanted to do something to mark their passing."
