Post mortems will take place this week on the bodies of the four young people who died in a tragic car crash in Clonmel on Friday evening.
The Tipperary town came to a standstill yesterday evening, as crowds gathered at a vigil to remember the dead.
Thousands gathered at the Kickham Plaza, to remember Grace and Luke McSweeney, and Zoey Coffey and Nicole Murphy. The evening included music, prayers, and words from local clergy and the town’s Mayor.
Mayor Richie Molloy, described the past few days as ‘the biggest tragedy that ever occurred in this town in his living memory’. He says it has hit home for many people.
School Chaplain in Clonmel Fr.Michael Toomey says it’s more important than ever for people to support each other at this time.
The song Rise Up playing on the speakers evoked strong emotions for those who were present at the vigil - in particular the friends of Grace, Luke, Zoey and Nicole. Fr. Toomey said the past few days have been an occasion where "where no words actually seem appropriate" amid "sadness and desolation".
