The relics of St Bernadette of Lourdes have arrived in Co Monaghan today, as part of their historic tour around Ireland.
They'll be in St Mary's Church, Castleblaney until 9pm tonight.
St Bernadette saw the Virgin Mary 18 times at the Grotto in Lourdes in 1858. In September and October, the relics of St Bernadette is on a pilgrimage to Ireland for the very first time, visiting every diocese in the country. The itinerary for St Mary's Church, Castleblaney began at 10:30am this morning for a Liturgy of Welcome,followed by 12noon Angelus. This afternoon at 3pm Way of the Cross is planned along with 6pm Rosary, 7pm Mass of the Sick and 9pm Departure of Relics
The Church will be open to allow people to visit and venerate the relics throughout the day, at times when there are no scheduled liturgies. The relics will then be in Lisknaskea tomorrow and on Monday the 28th of this month in Cavan also.
