A Cavan County Councillor has called for the possibility of a rebate of VAT for anyone availing of the Croi Conaithe Scheme.
Cllr TP O'Reilly said the scheme to date had been very successful to date but it had in turn now pushed the price upwards of derelict homes. He says he would like to see a rebate in some form that would benefit younger people trying to get on to the property ladder via purchasing an older unlived in property.
The local councillor says that derelict properties that were 50 or 60 thousand is now costing up on 100 thousand and anyway that can assist people on the property ladder should be looked at. Cllr John Paul Feeley said at the most recent sitting of Cavan County Council meeting that he wanted to give the Croi Conaithe Scheme a ringing endorsement. Cllr TP O'Reilly says there needs to be a rebate of some sort or a way to explore that avenue,
