Using local people to conduct contact tracing would help suppress the virus more effectively.
That’s according to DCU Professor Anthony Staines, who says that NPHET and the Government are using lockdowns as the sole method to stop the virus, something he would challenge them on.
He says that while call centers have been set up they should be investing in getting local people with good communication skills, such as those in the hospitality sector, to trace the outbreaks in their own areas.
Professor Staines also stated that ‘it’s never too late to do the right thing’ and support will be needed along the border to make life fairer on those traveling for work:
