A Monaghan councillor has called for funding to be secured for the Ballynacarry project. Fine Gael's Aidan Campbell believes negotiations "should take place" with the Northern Ireland roads authorities.
He says the move would help to ensure that sufficient funding to carry out safety improvement works at Ballynacarry Bridge on the N3 was secured. Cllr Campbell said that while the Part 8 planning stage was in the pipeline, the necessary works could not be carried out without adequate funding in place.
He added that "urgent" negotiations were needed with the Northern Ireland authorities to bring the project to fruition.
