The extension and upgrade of the Emergency Department at Cavan General Hospital will be in-line with what was learned during the pandemic.
The HSE announced last November, that subject to funding it would carry out works to see a second resuscitation room, an additional clinical administration area and a waiting area built at the site.

In a response to a question by Fianna Fail’s Brendan Smith, the HSE said the process of engaging a design team for the project began prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, and it’s expected that initial designs will be available later this year.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Brendan Smith said the plans will be up to date with what will be required post-Covid-19.
