Gardaí in Monaghan are advising motorists to expect longer than expected travel journeys this weekend.
The warning comes as the county prepares to host a Monaghan Stages Rally and St Tiernach Park's staging of the first round of the Ulster Senior Football Championship in Clones between Monaghan and Cavan on Sunday. Gardai are appealing for people to be aware that due to the the Monaghan Stages Rally and Championship Match at St Tiernachs Pk, Clones; this weekend traffic volumes from Moybridge to Corlatt roundabout are expected to be heavy throughout the day. Especially the roundabout at Maurice Grahams. Members of An Garda Siochana will be on traffic direction duty throughout the day. If possible patrons attending the match in Clones are to consider an alternative route. The full road closure order has been published in all local media with most notable road closures affecting traffic coming from Emyvale towards Monaghan town.
Patrons attending the match in Clones are advised to consider travelling to Tydavnet village via Corraghbrack cross from the N2 and onwards to Clones from there.
