Ukrainian refugees will be welcomed with opened arms to the Cavan Monaghan constituency.
This is according to Deputy Niamh Smyth who told Shannonside Northern Sound that Ireland as a whole is a place of a thousand welcomes.
She said families are running from their homeland because of the Russian invasion, leaving everything behind only to find they are separated at borders.
Deputy Smyth added that the Ukrainians are a people of peace who will be received safely here, and with open arms.
"I'm happy to see that the Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee, has made it easier for the Ukrainian people to come to this country," she continued.
"We have had calls ourselves to the constituency office where people living in Cavan and Monaghan are trying to connect and reach out to their families in the Ukraine and to get them to Ireland safely.
"We will do everything that we can to help the Ukrainian community across the constituency."
