Ukrainian arrivals to Clones were welcomed to the 7th annual O'Neill Park BBQ over the weekend.
It added to what was already an intercultural event, as Syrian neighbours brought some traditional dishes which were given a unanimous thumbs up.
The annual event, back for the first time since the pandemic, offered an opportunity to acknowledge new nationalities to the town and to get a literal 'taste' of other cultures in the area.
Ukrainian native Elina moved to O'Neill Park a decade ago and describes Irish people as "very friendly".
She says it's been difficult to watch the Russian invasion of her home country from afar, and added that she's been offering support to newly arrived Ukrainian refugees:
