A fundraiser has been set up to raise funds to help animals and their carers in Ukraine relocate to Ireland.

Parades for Ukraine are taking place around Ireland and Europe today, in place of events in the country itself.

There have been just under 48,000 arrivals from Ukraine in Ireland, including 776 in Cavan and 215 in Monaghan.

It offered an opportunity to acknowledge new nationalities to the town and get a literal 'taste' of other cultures.

But the figure nationally fell slightly last month when compared to June.

Around 43,000 Ukrainian refugees have arrived since February.
