The notice applies to approximately 1,000 customers across Monaghan town.

A do not consume notice has been issued for a number of areas in Monaghan town due to elevated levels of manganese.

Uisce Éireann says this restriction will run from 11pm tonight until 7am tomorrow morning

Water samples were taken for analysis and the results indicated the pollution source was direct discharge from an effluent pipe at Uisce Éireann's water treatment plant.

Uisce Éireann advises the work may require some short-term water interruptions and traffic management will be in place.

According to Cavan County Council, the road will be closed from 9am to 6pm today.

Following a consultation with the HSE, Uisce Éireann has warned customers on the Dowra Public Water Supply Scheme not to consume the water due to high levels of aluminium.
