Uisce Éireann is investing on critical water and wastewater infrastructure in Cavan and Monaghan.
Last year, the national water company invested €1.2 billion last year on capital expenditure.
In Monaghan, a major upgrade of the Carrickmacross Wastewater Treatment Plant continues with the most recent phase of works to include a pumping station and relocation of the final effluent discharge pipe to the Longfield River.
An upgrade of the Newbliss Water Treatment Plant has recently begun which, when complete, will provide a more reliable water supply for local homes and businesses.

In Cavan, major projects are underway in Virginia and Ballyjamesduff with upgrades of wastewater treatment plants.
Leakage reduction projects have been completed in Cavan Town, Drumalee and Cootehill while first fix repairs continue across the county to deliver a more resilient water supply.
The details are contained in Uisce Éireann's Annual Report 2023, which shows a range of key achievements for the organisation including assuming full responsibility for the delivery of all public water services in Ireland, transitioning to a national centrally managed national utility.
