Two former teachers from Carrickmacross have launched a fundraiser for a small rural community in Cambodia. Dave Phelan and his wife Niamh Boylan have been training teachers in the country for a number of years.
The GoFundMe page was set up as many people have lost their jobs due to the pandemic and are struggling to feed their families.
The local school has set up a chicken raising project and is growing vegetables to support the community and money raised will go towards those projects.
Some local and national politicians have come on board to lend their names to some of the chickens, with Arlene, Mary Lou, Heather and Niamh among those being raised.
