Two people have been arrested in Co Cavan after failing a roadside drugs test during a multi-agency checkpoint.
On Tuesday, Cavan Roads Policing Unit, alongside the Road Safety Authority and the Health and Safety Authority, were carrying out checkpoints on both the N55 and N3.
A large number of Heavy Goods Vehicles were inspected, and one had a number of major faults which required further examination at a test centre.
This HGV was not permitted to continue on the road as a result.
Two vehicles were also taken off the road for having no insurance, NCT or tax.
Meanwhile, a number of drivers were tested for being under the influence of intoxicants, with two failing roadside drug tests.
They were arrested, and local gardaí say court appearances and Fixed Payment Notices are to follow.
