Two motorists in the Northern Sound region are due in court following separate drink and drug driving incidents.
On Saturday night, Monaghan gardaí arrested a male on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant.
The driver tested positive for cocaine following an oral fluid test.
At around the same time, a car in the Virginia area was driving at speed with its lights off and narrowly missed vehicles stopped at a checkpoint.
A foot chase ensued and the driver was arrested for drunk driving - both drivers were charged, with court dates to follow.
Meanwhile, Bailieborough gardaí detained a vehicle at an Operation Fanacht checkpoint in Ballyjamesduff after the car was found to have had no NCT since 2018 and no tax since 2017.
