Two Monaghan schools are seeking permission to construct new classrooms.
Gaelscoil Ultain, an Irish Language primary school on the Armagh Road in Monaghan Town, hopes to build an extension to its current school building.
It has lodged an application which would see the construction of two new classrooms with ancillary toilets and corridor access.
Meanwhile, St Patrick's National School in Castleblayney has also lodged a planning application to construct a new classroom.
It's seeking permission to construct a single-story extension to the front of the existing building.
This would allow the school to create a new classroom, staff accommodation, and toilet facilities.
Works also include the removal of an existing prefabricated structure and alterations to the site layout.
A decision on both school's applications is expected by the 18th of July.
