Two Monaghan groups have been nominated as finalists in the National Lottery Good Causes awards.
Castleblaney Trust for Homeless, Needy and Unemployed were nominated in the Community category and are a charity who have been providing temporary emergency and social housing since 1987.
The Down Syndrome Centre North East, were nominated in the Health & Wellbeing category, and provide free and heavily subsidised therapies, activities, support services, education, information and advice for young people with Down Syndrome and their families.
Local Minister Heather Humphreys presented a cheque for €1000 to each of the groups earlier this month and said she was delighted to present the money to two local groups.
The final of the awards will take place in the Kilashee House Hotel in Co. Kildare where category winners will receive €10,000 and the overall winner taking home €25,000
