Gardaí say they are committed to disrupt and dismantle organised crime networks profiting from drug dealing.
It follows the seizure of 120 kilograms of cocaine worth 8.4 million euro, that had been flown into the country.
The drugs were discovered after two vehicles were searched in the Lough Owel area of County Westmeath yesterday.
Homes were searched in Naas, County Kildare and Waterford City, while a light aircraft was seized in County Longford.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking.
Detective Chief Superintendent Seamus Boland is head of the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau.
He says the investigation is continuing with the help of international law enforcement agencies:
