Two men are appearing in Court after being caught burgling a house in Castleblayney.
Gardaí were on patrol in the town last night when a member of the public told them they were after witnessing a break-in on Main Street.
Gardai responded immediately to the alert and when they arrived at the property, found it was open with two men on the stairs inside.
Both men, in their early 40s and mid-20s, were arrested at the scene.
One of the men was also found to be in possession of a hammer, which was concealed in his trousers.
They were detained at Castleblayney Garda Station and charged in relation to the burglary and are appearing before Virginia District Court this morning.
Speaking after the arrests, Local Garda Inspector Michael O'Donoghue thanked the members of the public who alerted Gardai, which allowed them to respond quickly.
