Three local people have been appointed to the North South Language Body Board.
The appointments were approved at last week's meeting of the North South Ministerial Council Transport sector.
Six new Board Members were nominated by the Irish Government, three of whom hail from the Shannonside Northern Sound region.
Virginia's Freddie Kettyle was appointed Vice-Chair of the Ulster-Scots Agency Board, while Monaghan's Allen McAdam and Cavan-based Lavinia Tilson were made Board Members.
Elsewhere, Freda Nic Giolla Chatháin was made a made a member of the Board of Foras na Gaeilge.
She has previously worked as an Irish Language Development Officer for Roscommon County Council.
All of the appointments are for a four-year term and Ministers Catherine Martin and Jack Chambers said they look forward to working with the new Board in promoting the work of the North South Language Body.
