Two Gardaí have been injured following a house fire in Carrickmacross over the weekend. Gardaí received reports on Saturday afternoon just before 2pm that a house was on fire on Mullinary Road in the town,
Gardaí arrived at the scene and upon arrival they were informed that a person may have been in the property. Despite the presence of thick smoke, two Garda members entered and searched the property.
No one was found inside and fire services subsequently brought the fire under control. Both Garda members, one male and one female, were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda to receive treatment for smoke inhalation and are continuing to recover.
