Two friends are kayaking 320km from County Cavan to County Clare today to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society.
Gavin Sheehan and Maccullin Skelly will be carrying out a River Shannon source-to-sea kayaking expedition with the goal of raising 20,000 euro for the charity.
The trip begins at the Shannon Pot, Co. Cavan this morning and finishes at Kilrush in Co. Clare, totaling a distance of over 320km over 7 days.
Over the course of the expedition the lads will paddle through all 11 counties that the Shannon flows through.
The two men are using the week long kayaking event to raise awareness around receiving a cancer diagnosis.
Gavin says himself and Mac are looking forward to the week long event but says it will be a big challenge to undertake.
