Two drug drivers were recently detected by members of the Cavan Roads Policing Unit. A driver in Kilnaleck was detected driving without insurance or driving licence and then failed the oral fluid test. The driver tested positive for both cocaine and cannabis and was arrested. The car was subsequently detained.
Elsewhere, another motorist was stopped for speeding on the N3 near Virginia. According to Gardaí, when stopped the driver tested positive for cocaine. This driver was arrested also and blood samples were taken at Bailieborough Garda Station. A fixed payment noticed was issued for the speeding offence.
