Two drivers were caught drug-driving yesterday morning by Gardaí in Co Cavan. The detection was made as a result of checkpoints conducted by members of the Cavan Roads Policing Unit who were out patrolling at the time of the incident.
As a result of the detection, two drivers failed the roadside drug test. According to local Gardaí, the first tested positive for opiates, cocaine and benzos while the second tested positive for cannabis.
Both drivers were arrested and further samples were taken for forwarding to the Medical Bureau of Road Safety. Meanwhile, Gardaí are appealing for motorists to never drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
