Two Cavan politicians nominated to run in Seanad elections

Cavan councillor Carmel Brady was also recently selected as the chairperson of the Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board.

Two Cavan politicians have been nominated to contest the upcoming Seanad elections.
Former TD Pauline Tully and Fine Gael councillor Carmel Brady received a nomination to contest the Cultural and Educational Panel in the Seanad.

Cavan councillor Carmel Brady was also recently selected as the chairperson of the Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board.

Cllr Sarah O'Reilly from Aontu has also been nominated by her party to contest the Seanad on the Agricultural Panel, it’s understood thatT.P. O'Reilly of Fine Gael also had put his name forward for consideration by the party but was unsuccessful in obtaining a nomination.

Cllr Shane P O'Reilly also was successful in being nominated to contest the election on the Agricultural Panel but declined the nomination on this occasion having contested the Seanad in 2016 and 2020, sitting senators Diarmuid Wilson FF Admin Panel, Robbie Gallagher FF Labour Panel and Joe O'Reilly FG Labour Panel have all been duly nominated to regain their seats.

Sinn Féin's Pauline Tully has been nominated by her party, and is contesting after having lost her Dáil seat in the General Elections at the end of November.
Speaking to Northern Sound News, the former teacher says that, if elected, her focus would be on special education:
