Two Co Cavan music groups have been awarded funding under the Music Capital Grant Scheme.
The scheme is managed by Music Network and provides funding for the purchase of musical instruments in three discrete categories.
Accora Orchestra, which holds classes each week in St. Killian's National School, Mullagh, are the big winners locally, being awarded funding of just under €6,700.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's Brass and Reed Band, Kingscourt has been awarded just under €600.
The funding came from the Department of Arts Minister Catherine Martin.
Deputy Martin is a former music teacher, and commenting on the scheme, she said she "knows how important good quality musical instruments are to these groups that engage with their local communities".
