Tusla is undertaking a review of refuge emergency accommodation provision in Cavan and Monaghan.
Cavan-Monaghan lacks a domestic violence or specialist emergency accommodation provision, and some victims of domestic abuse in Cavan and Monaghan have had to travel to Meath, Louth or Sligo for refuge accommodation.
However, Fianna Fáil TD Brendan Smith has been informed by Tusla that they are undertaking a review of emergency accommodation provision in the region.
There has been an increase in domestic violence over recent months and Deputy Smith says this highlights the urgent need to provide adequate supports in a timely manner for victims.
