Deputy Tully has called on the government to commit to a minimum respite guarantee and a significant relaxation of the carers allowance means-test so that more carers are supported and payments for all are increased.

Sinn Féin spokesperson on disability and carers, Pauline Tully, says the voices of carers must be heard and must be respected.

The Cavan-Monaghan TD was speaking ahead of a Sinn Féin motion that calls on the government to take real action.

Deputy Tully has called on the government to commit to a minimum respite guarantee and a significant relaxation of the carers allowance means-test, so that more carers are supported and payments for all are increased.

According to Deputy Tully, the voices of carers "must be heard," and "must be respected."
