Sinn Féin spokesperson on disability and carers, Pauline Tully, says the voices of carers must be heard and must be respected.
The Cavan-Monaghan TD was speaking ahead of a Sinn Féin motion that calls on the government to take real action.
Deputy Tully has called on the government to commit to a minimum respite guarantee and a significant relaxation of the carers allowance means-test, so that more carers are supported and payments for all are increased.
According to Deputy Tully, the voices of carers "must be heard," and "must be respected."
