Tributes have been pouring in following the death of Archbishop Noël Treanor.
The Archbishop, who was born in Monaghan, passed away at the age of 73.
He served as Bishop of Down and Connor for 14 years and was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to the European Union by Pope Francis.
Church of Ireland Archbishop of Armagh, John McDowell, said that the late prelate always "used his diplomatic and academic skills to ensure that Christian values were advocated for at the heart of the EU."
