Tributes have been paid to "proud Cavan man" Sean McMahon, who passed recently while on route to his son's wedding in the Philippines.
The Cavan native immigrated to New York in 1984 and was a member of the Carpenter's Union for the City.
He was also a member of the Cavan Protective & Benevolent Association, which promotes friendship among members, and helps them and their families in time of sickness and death.
The Cavan P&B Association described Sean as "a big man with an even bigger heart".
Known to many in New York as 'Sean the carpenter', the Association's President Michael O'Reilly said he was "always a pleasure to be with and above all else, was a proud Cavan man".
Sean's requiem mass will take place at 1pm on Sunday at St Matthew's Church, Crosskeys.
