Tributes paid to local lawyers at Monaghan Circuit Court sitting

Before Court proceedings began, Judge John Aylmer led in the tributes to each of the lawyers.

Tributes were paid to the late  Kenneth Fogarty SC, Donal Keane BL, and Patrick MacEntee SC KC at this week's Monaghan Circuit Court sitting.
Before Court proceedings began, Judge John Aylmer led in the tributes to each of the lawyers.
He described each of them as great friends and colleagues.

Mr Fogarty and Mr Keane both practised on the Northern Circuit and Mr Keane was also well-known in his role as the State prosecutor in Leitrim.
Patrick MacEntee, a native of Monaghan, was a former chair of the Bar Council, and was involved in the commision of inquiry into the Dublin and Monaghan bombings.
Bl Frank Martin, on behalf of the Bar, paid tribute to each of the deceased calling them "tenacious and formidable characters".
Dermot O’Neill, State solicitor for Co Monaghan, paid tribute to all of the deceased on behalf of the solicitors’ profession.
