Tributes paid to Humphreys following decision not to seek re-election

In a statement this morning, Taoiseach Simon Harris described the Cavan-Monaghan TD as a "trailblazer in Irish politics", a great friend, and a dedicated Minister, and Deputy Leader of the party.

Tributes are being paid to Minister Heather Humphreys, following her shock announcement that she will not be seeking re-election at the upcoming General Election.
The Cavan/Monaghan TD confirmed the news on Saturday evening to Northern Sound News.

Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound, Cavan-Monaghan TD Niamh Smyth described Minister Heather Humphreys as a 'pioneer for women in politics.'

Monaghan Fine Gael councillor Sean Gilliland said her decision to step down will be a 'huge loss' to the constituency:
