Tributes have been pouring in since his was death was announced yesterday. 

Great sadness has been felt across Monaghan following the passing of the very popular Joe Connolly.
Tributes have been pouring in since his was death was announced yesterday.
With one tribute describing him as a true gentleman and a great community man who gave his time for the better of all.
With another saying his litter picking on the Glenn Road and around the town never went unnoticed.

Described as man of great compassion and understanding, he was very well known from his career as a psychiatric nurse at St Davnets Hospital and his work with Houston Scott Maxwell Funeral directors.
Joe was also a leader with the 2nd Monaghan Scout group before embarking on perhaps where he was best known in recent years as a Monaghan town " litter vigilante".
Lots of tributes were paid online to show their appreciation for Joe's dedicated work with Monaghan Tidy Towns, with one adding that it was a labour of love for his town.
