Tributes have been paid to Daire Maguire, whose funeral has taken place in Fermanagh this morning. He died in a crash at the Sligo Rally on Sunday alongside his co-driver Gene McDonald.
Gifts were brought up at the beginning of the mass, including a motorsports jacket. Visiting priest, Father Saghar Sabir, paid tribute to Daire's passion for motorsports. "Daire had a tremendous love of cars and had old scrap at his parents house.
"He then took up rallying and motor sport over 20 years ago. He rallied all over Ireland and even went overseas on a few occasions," he said. Meanwhile, Daire died alongside Cootehill native, Gene McDonald when their car hit a wall during the sixth stage of the Sligo Rally on Sunday.
Motorsport Ireland and the Gardaí are currently investigating the circumstances around the accident.
