The men have been named as Mark 'Beaver' Eager and Stuart ‘Stuewy’ O’Connell.

Tributes have been paid to two friends who tragically died following a collision involving motorcycles near Oldcastle.

The men have been named as Mark 'Beaver' Eager and Stuart ‘Stuewy’ O’Connell, both from the Oldcastle locality. They were pronounced dead at the scene following a three-vehicle road traffic collision at Bellaney, on the R195 Castlepollard to Oldcastle Road on at approximately 4:40pm on Sunday last.

The two men were travelling on the same motorcycle at the time. A second male motorcyclist involved in the collision was taken to Tallaght University Hospital where he is being treated for what have been described as “serious” injuries. A third male motorcyclist was taken to Cavan General Hospital with “non-life threatening injuries”. An online fundraiser to help the families of Mr Eager and Mr O'Connell has already raised €7,000 to date.
