Tributes have poured in following the death of a Monaghan teenager.
Aoibhe Byrne died following a tragic incident in Carrickmacross yesterday evening.
Gardaí responded to the incident which occurred shortly after 7pm, however the 14-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a touching tribute posted online, Magheracloone Ladies GFC said that the whole community was in a state of shock following the death of their esteemed player, Aoibhe Byrne.
The club added that Aoibhe was a "beautiful soul" who always had a "smile on her face."
Known as a talented sporting personality to many, the late Aoibhe Byrne was also a pupil at Coláiste Dún An Rí.
In a public statement, the Cavan school said, "Our hearts are breaking today as we come to terms with the devastating loss of our dear student Aoibhe Byrne.
"Aoibhe was a wonderful lady, an excellent student and a key member of our sports teams."
The school added that it was "lucky" to have Aoibhe as student over the years, and that her "smiling face" and "kindness" will never be forgotten.
The Funeral Mass of the late Aoibhe Byrne will take place at 11.30am on Sunday, May 1st in St Paul's Church, lower Magheracloone followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
