Tributes have been paid to a Co Fermanagh man who died unexpectedly abroad. Damien Melarkey from Enniskillen was a "valued" and "popular" member of the packaging team at Mannok where he worked for over 17 years. Paying tribute to the late Mr Melarkey, the local business said that it is with deepest regret and sadness that the company has learned of the death of their colleague and friend, Damien Melarkey. The online statement read; "It is with deepest regret and sadness that the company has learned of the death of our colleague and friend, Damien Melarkey who passed away unexpectedly abroad. Damien was a valued and popular member of our Packaging team during his employment over the past 17 years. Everyone at Mannok wishes to offer our sincerest condolences to Damien’s family and wide circle of friends at this difficult time. May his gentle soul Rest in Peace." Described by many as a "true gentleman" Mr Melarkey had been on holiday in Thailand when he died suddenly just days before his flight home. His funeral mass will take place in Michael's Church, Enniskillen on Monday at 11am followed by burial in Cross Cemetery.
