Tributes have been paid to a Killeevan man who died just days after a fundraiser was launched for his lung cancer diagnosis.
Earlier this month, 25 year old Dion Conlon was told he had Adenocarcinoma, which is a rare form of lung cancer not usually found in young people.
Dion was unexpectedly admitted to hospital five weeks ago, with his family given the diagnosis on August 12th.
Last Thursday, a GoFundMe was set up to help cover the cost of his treatment and to allow his family to travel from Monaghan to Liverpool where he was staying.
In just four day, 600 people helped break the €30,000 fundraising target.
Dion was due to start chemotherapy tomorrow, but passed away in the early hours of this morning.
In a post on Facebook, Killeevan Sarsfields GAA remembered Dion as a very happy, positive person, and said he was a key player on their double winning Reserve team of 2015.
Dion is survived by his parents Brian and Alison and his siblings Chelsea and Jordan.
