The trial of two men accused of robbing a credit union worker during a heist which claimed the life of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe will open next Wednesday.
Brendan Treanor, of Emer Terrace, Castletown Road in Dundalk, and James Flynn, of Raven's Glen in Newry, are also accused of conspiring to commit burglary.
Last Wednesday marked the ten-year anniversary of Det Adrian Donohoe’s murder.
In 2020, Aaron Brady from Crossmaglen, Co Armagh, was convicted of murdering him outside Lordship Credit Union in Co Louth.
Benny Treanor and Jimmy Flynn are accused of taking part in the robbery that led to Det Donohue being shot dead.
They’re both accused of stealing €7,000 from one of the credit union workers as he was leaving to make a drop-off with an armed garda escort.
They’re also facing a charge of conspiring to commit a burglary with the intent of stealing the keys of a car sometime between 11 Sept 2012 and 23 Jan 2013.
They appeared in court today for a brief hearing in relation to disclosure and were told their trial will open on Wednesday morning.
