Treacy's Hotel in Carrickmacross has received planning permission which will see over 50 bedrooms added to the hotel.
This will bring the total number of bedrooms at the hotel to 97.
The works will see a change of use of first floor events rooms to 40 bedrooms, as well as a change of use of ground floor storage to 11 bedrooms.
Permission has also been granted for a small extension to the ground floor, and for the demolition of part of the first floor to form an external courtyard.
Further correspondence to Monaghan County Council stated that the purpose of the "development is to improve the viability of the hotel for use as a hotel".
The correspondence added that the development is part of a plan to accommodate coach tours from other hotels owned by the Treacy's Hotel Group.
