Motorists are being warned of traffic disruption in Monaghan town this afternoon ahead of the annual 10 mile road race.
Monaghan Town Runners are hosting their 10 and 5 mile road race today, which starts from Church Square at 12.30.
The route takes in Monaghan town and the R186 road as far as Ballinode village.
Large numbers expected to attend and the organisers are asking other road users in particular to be aware of competitors on the route.
Ann Marie Mc Cleary is a member of the club and organising committee, she says safety is their priority.
"We have always had great support from local people on the day of the race and hopefully that will continue," she added.
"We will have the Gardai out and we have a lot of marshals from the club out as well.
"But we have to keep everyone safe and it is important to be mindful."
