Today marks 10 years since Carrickmacross man Shane O'Farrell was killed in
a hit and run.
His family have been fighting for justice since, with calls for a full
public inquiry into his death continuing.
The 23 year old law student was cycling on the N2 when he was hit by a car.
The driver of that car, Zigimantas Gridziuska, was on bail at the time but
had breached his bail conditions so should have been taken back into
custody.
He didn't stop at the scene and hid his car in bushes near his home, before
handing himself into Gardaí the following day.
The O'Farrell family have led a vocal campaign in a bid to get answers and
have highlighted failings in the justice system.
A scoping inquiry was set up into the case in early 2019 but that still has
not been completed.
